Do you think Switch 2 will ultimately outsell the original?

It seems as though the cost of games (and the system itself) will be a significant issue, but how it'll all unfold in terms of total sales in several years' time will be interesting to see.

Nintendo subscriptions could do with a more options

When I first bought the Nintendo switch it was a pretty cool addition to my collection of consoles, I don't play it much anymore due to the fact that you have 3 options for individual memberships, and none of those 3 memberships apply the expansion to play all the Nintendo, Super Nintendo or Sega and Gameboy games. You have to buy a 12 month subscription for the expansion when that expansion should be added to even just the 1 month or 3 months subscription, like xbox does with Game Pass Ultimate. You purchase one month and you get all the benefits of having the subscription, and I mean like tons of benefits with it. Nintendo you should really think about doing this, im sure more people would love their console more if you did

Where do you stand on modifying consoles?

With the news hitting that Nintendo could brick your Switch 2 if it detects tampering with the hardware. Do you think that's fair? On one hand, I get that playing around with tech like this can be dangerous if in the wrong hands (I guess? I've not tried it myself), but it's taking a lot of the freedom of ownership. With gamers losing "ownership" over the games they purchase, surely they should have a say in what is done with their console?

It really shouldn't be this hard to own the games we buy...

As great as some of the advancements in gaming have been over the last 20+ years, it's becoming increasingly concerning that we can't own the games we buy, especially with physical editions. I can understand it applying to live service games, but if I buy a single-player game or couch co-op title, that should be the end of it. Otherwise, what's the point in buying games? Shouldn't the whole industry just become a subscription service?

It might be hard not to go digital games over physical

I've been quite a prolific collector of physical Switch games, but I may limit myself in that regard this time. With digital titles often being cheaper, the convenience of no cartridge-swapping and the increased storage capacity of the new system, it might be the way to go.

Will consoles even matter in the long run?

PCs are getting cheaper & way more powerful. Handhelds like Steam Deck run full games. Cloud gaming's slowly catching on too. So do we really need PlayStation, Xbox, or whatever's next? They still got exclusives & plug-and-play ease, but is that enough? What do y’all think?

Did you manage to get your hands on a Switch 2 pre-order?

The pre-order situation seems pretty disastrous and a real coin flip. Did you have any luck?

Should we be worried about the future of AI and video games?

I suspect that AI voice acting will become more common, which is a shame as people will lose their jobs.

Are the prices for the Switch 2 and its games a deal-breaker, or are you all in?

There's been a lot of discussion circulating around the price point for the Switch 2 console and especially for games like Mario Kart World. Is the impact on your wallet going to put you off making an early purchase, or are you convinced enough of its value?

It's so good to see some wheelchair sport representation for Switch 2!

My father's been in a wheelchair all my life, so I got to witness some really cool wheelchair and disability sports growing up. Seeing Drag x Drive share the spotlight and the new mechanics really lean into being a wheelchair user is a fantastic example of representation and I'm really excited to play it and see what avenues it can open for more titles like it!

Nintendo fans — are you going physical or digital with the Switch 2?

I'm extremely torn, but I do love the red cartridge. Reminds me of the blue PS2 disks back in the day.

What Did You Think of The Nintendo Direct? (April, 2025)

A few huge announcements in the form of a Switch 2 release date, a new Mario Kart, and a host of nostalgic GameCube titles coming back to us. There's plenty to unpack, so how would you rate the Nintendo Direct? What are you most excited about?

What Game Stood Out to You From The Nintendo Direct?

I had already wishlisted Witchbrook on Steam, but the first-look trailer we got during the Direct made me even more excited about it. It's so cool that we get to ride bikes and brooms and live in this wonderfully magical world. I was, however, sad to learn that it'll only be available late into 2025, as I was hoping to play it during the summer.

I Don’t Think Single-Player Games Are Declining, But Evolving

There’s been a lot of talk about single player games fading with the rise of multiplayer and live service titles. But honestly, I think it’s more of an evolution than a decline. Games like The Last of Us Part II and Elden Ring show that single player experiences are still thriving, just evolving with bigger worlds, deeper stories, and more personalized gameplay. Even titles like Ghost of Tsushima blend solo campaigns with online features, bringing the community together. I think single player games are adapting and getting better. Are we losing something, or is this the future of solo gaming?

What Do You Think of Hard Ray Tracing Requirements For Games?

With the GPU requirements for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages in mind, I'm a little worried that this might become a trend for AAA gaming in 2025 and beyond. I know, everybody needs to upgrade their hardware at some point, but I can't help but feel that it's a little too early for there to be a new barrier of entry for PC gaming.

What Letter Grade Do You Give the Xbox Developer Direct?

Xbox looks like it has some heavy hitters in 2025 starting with Avowed and then on through the rest of the year. I think the Xbox Developer Direct showed me enough to be excited about, even if I'm more likely to play most of these games on PC.

Where Does Your Favorite Video Game Console Live? Do You Keep Any Video Game Consoles or Accessories in Unusual Places?

My PS5 lives up in my office plugged into my PC monitor, but my PS Portal sits in its stand on the bedside table in case I wake up in the night and need it.
