This article contains spoilers for One Piece's Elbaf Arc.

One Piece's Elbaf arc was set up in the story long before the timeskip of the story, and it goes without saying that for an arc that required such extensive waiting, Oda had to deliver something special. While fans had their own ideas of what Elbaf was going to be all about, no fan had any idea of what Oda would truly show in this story arc.

In fact, most fans of One Piece are blown away by the quality that Oda has managed to deliver in what can be considered to be the very best arc of the story to date, and it is only going to keep getting better, especial now that it is quite clear that Oda is building up towards what will be the single greatest chapter in the history of the entire story.

Oda Continues To Build The Rocks Pirates

  • The Rocks Pirates Have Taken Over The Pirate Island
  • It All Leads To One Big Point

When Elbaf began, hardly any fan imagined that the Elbaf arc would give them a good background of the Rocks Pirates. To the fans, the Rocks Pirates were simply a legend that Oda would most likely never elaborate upon, or perhaps not much later into the story. However, Oda shocked everyone when he stated that Loki was actually inspired by none other than Rocks D. Xebec. At that point, it became clear that Loki's flashback would feature Rocks D. Xebec and that eventually it could all lead to the one point that every single One Piece fan has been waiting for, and that is the God Valley Incident.

The truth is this...in order to break apart the Rocks Pirates, Garp and Roger joined forces! — Sengoku

Rocks D. Xebec was first mentioned in the story around 7 years ago, and since then, Oda has slowly been building up towards his full reveal. 6 years ago, Oda once again gave bits about the Rocks Pirates, and Egghead also gave fans a good glimpse. Now, in the Elbaf arc, Oda has finally revealed Rocks D. Xebec through Loki's flashback, and, needless to say, fans are completely blown away.

The God Valley Incident Could Finally Be Revealed In One Piece Chapter 1157

One Piece's Most Awaited Battle Will Finally Be Revealed

Whenever One Piece fans speak of Rocks D. Xebec, only one thing comes to mind and that is the God Valley Incident. After all, this incident was where Rocks D. Xebec met his very end, 38 years ago. Not only Rocks, but also the vast majority of the crew scattered and then formed their own crews. It was the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, and it all began on that day, 38 years ago.

Roger is going to be there? You should've told me sooner! — Garp

One Piece chapter 1156 explored the events from 44 years ago, and given the rate at which the story is moving, One Piece chapter 1156 is going to be the one where, finally, the events from 38 years ago will be revealed to everyone.

The God Valley Incident Is One Piece's Greatest Mystery

Nobody knows what truly happened in God Valley. What fans know is that Rocks fought Roger, and Garp was involved as well. The Roger Pirates fought the Rocks Pirates, the Navy, and the Holy Knights, and this chaos shook the whole world. Soon, Oda will show everything about this event to the fans.

One Piece Chapter 1157 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 16. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1157 is August 16, 2025. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.
